Chan's Eye Clinic was started as Lee Chan
Ju Ophthalmology Clinic in 1990 and changed
its name to Chan's Eye Clinic in May 2006,
which is the typical specialized ophthalmology
clinic.
When Director Lee Chan Ju established the
clinic at Sillim-dong, he introduced cataract
surgery as personal ophthalmology clinic in
Seoul and attracted public attention. Today
cataract surgery has became the most typical
surgery of personal ophthalmology clinic,
however, at that time cataract surgery was
performed by university hospital and was a
big surgery which needed hospital treatment
for several days.
Like this, when patients thought that surgery
should be performed in university hospitals,
director Lee Chan Ju introduced a system of
performing the cataract surgery and leaving
the hospital through detailed incision and
phacoemulsification. In other words, patients
can be operated in the morning and leave the
hospital in the afternoon, which created a
sensation between ophthalmology clinic. Today
detailed incision and phacoemulsification
have became the basis of cataract surgery,
however, that system was the 10 years earlier
method in 1990.
Now Chan's Eye Clinic performs 1500 cataract
surgeries every year, which is an amazing
amount to a personal clinic, and performs
glaucoma surgery, strabismus surgery and eye
plastic surgery.
Like this, Chan's Eye Clinic not only performs
every eye surgery from basic care of eye diseases
to detailed surgery, but also have many excellent
surgery experiences in Eximer Laser Operations
called Lasik.
Especially Chan's Eye Clinic introduced Eximer
Laser Operations at first in 1991 and have
performed laser refractive surgery since 1991.
But Chan's Eye Clinic keeps making an effort
to continually accept new medical technologies,
and as a result, the clinic was authorized
as an exclusive hospital of Lasik surgery
in 1995, Epi-lasik surgery in 2004, and ASA
80 presbyopia surgery for over 40s in 2005,
and it gives a hope of life to many people.
In addition, Chan's Eye Clinic performs surgeries
inserting Implantable Contact Lens(ICL) or
Artisan lens for hyper-myopia patients whom
laser refractive surgery cannot be performed
to. To improve presbyopia symptom generated
after cataract surgery, Chan's Eye Clinic
introduced 1CU(Crystalens, ReSTOR lens) surgery
long time ago and have made an effort to treat
patients. For these reason, Chan's Eye Clinic
is recognised as a leading eye surgery clinic.
