Yonsei Sarang Clinic (Joints)

The specialized medical treatment making many people come from other countries to learn
Yonsei Sarang Clinic is the clinic specialized in the field of joints. It was established in 2003 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do. After its establishment, it successfully carried out about 100 cases including 30 cases for the operation of the artificial joints and 40 cases for the joint endoscopic operation within nine months. After three years, the clinic was capable of carrying out 400 to 450 cases a month, showing a great level of growth. In April, 2008, the second clinic with the capacity of accommodating 85 patients was established in Bangbae-dong, Gangnam-gu. With the help of the 'second leap,' Yonsei Sarang Clinic is now able to carry out about 600 operations a month in Seoul and Bucheon, showing a great level of potential power. After a year, the clinic opened the third branch in Gongreung-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, in April, 2009. This November, it opened the clinic specialized in rehabilitation with the capacity of accommodating 30 patients, in Seocho-gu.

Currently, Yonsei Sarang Clinic has the capacity of accommodating 85 patients in Gangnam-gu, 58 patients in Gangbuk-gu and 75 patients in Bucheon-si. Also, it has become a professional clinic equipped with 12 operation rooms in total. After opening the second branch in Gangnam, about 550 to 600 patients visit the clinic a day. Also, about 600 operations are carried out a month. Currently, the clinic operates eight specialized centers including the one for cartilage reproduction and cell treatment, the one for sports injuries, the one for non-operations and external shock waves, the one for joint endoscopy, the one for artificial joints, the one for shoulder and arm joints, the one for pes, and the one for spine.

The level of the medical treatment carried out at Yonsei Sarang Clinic is widely recognized by the medical practitioners from such countries as Japan and China among many other Asian countries. Since March, 2005, about 60 doctors from 7 Asian countries including Japan, China, Vietnam and Singapore have visited the clinic to learn the medical operations for 'artificial joints' and 'cartilage reproduction.'

The most important principle followed by Yonsei Sarang Clinic when treating the joint diseases of patients is to preserve the cartilages of patients as much as possible. In other words, rather than leaving the symptoms untreated until the time when it is necessary to carry out the medical operation for artificial joints, the non-operation treatment is applied first for the damaged joints in the primary and secondary stages, in order to delay the occurrence of the degenerative arthritis as much as possible.
